As every year, we kicked off the new winter semester with our traditional kick-off event to mark the start of the new season!
We opened our doors at 6 p.m. and the first curious guests came in right away. The rooms had been transformed into a kind of mini trade fair where we could present the different areas of our work as Speed Dating: from Omniwheels and circuit boards to software and strategy development to robots in action. So, in the foyer, everything revolved around software, electronics, and firmware, while in the main room (our lab), we had set up a small playing field to demonstrate strategy and tidied up our mechanics corner.
For the first half hour, the spectacle mainly took place in the foyer, but after a few introductory words from our new team leadership duo consisting of Katya and Malte, the visitors ventured into the laboratory at the back. While some of the students knew right away which topic they were particularly interested in, others wanted to see everything and visited each station once.
About three hours later, the event slowly came to an end – three hours during which we had the opportunity to meet many enthusiastic students and spark their interest in luhbots! To celebrate, the team enjoyed a large round of pizza.
All in all, we are very happy with the event and look forward to welcoming many of the new faces back at the next team meeting!
