New semester = new first-year students = new potential luhbots members! That’s why we were delighted to welcome new students again this year at the start of the 2024/2025 winter semester as part of two rallies.
Computer Science Rally
📅 8th of October 2024
📍 luhbots Lab
We started with the new computer science students, for whom we had come up with a little challenge: After a short warm-up round, they were given two minutes to knock over five red cones on the other side of the pitch. The number of cones hit then gave the score with which the first-year students could move on to the next station. While they were busy kicking the ball around, we talked about our project and explained a lot about the technology behint it.

Mechanical Engineering Rally
📅 17th of October 2024
📍 luhbots Lab
The following week, the new mechanical engineering students were allowed to visit us and answer two questions:
1. Why do we need the coloured dots on the robots?
2. Which programming languages do we use here at luhbots?
Anyone who has ever visited us at an event or did research on our website will certainly know the answers! For everyone else, here is the answer: We need the colour dots to localise and detect the robots on the playing field and we use the programming languages C++, Python, Lua and Rust. Of course, we hope that the students took more than just these two pieces of information away with them!
