📅 15th to 16th of August 2026
📍 Hannover Congress Centrum
This year, Maker Faire Hannover attracted around 17,500 people to the Hannover Congress Centrum – and we were delighted to be part of this colourful weekend of technology with our robots!

At our stand, everything revolved around the question of what autonomous football robots are actually capable of. To start with, we had one robot driving autonomously and another that could be controlled by visitors on the pitch. It soon became clear, however, just how much interest there was: to avoid long queues and give as many visitors as possible the chance to play themselves, we decided on the spot to make both robots controllable. This allowed even more guests to get directly involved in the action and experience our robots up close.
We didn’t just meet curious first-time visitors either. Some guests already knew us from other events and made a point of stopping by our stand. It was particularly lovely to see how much prior knowledge some visitors (especially the younger ones) already had. For example, one child knew straight away what the colourful dots on our robots were for: they enable the robots’ position and orientation on the playing field to be determined using the camera mounted above them. It was precisely moments like these that showed us just how much enthusiasm and technical interest there was amongst the visitors.

After having controlled a real robot, visitors could try out ‘luhbots The Game’. This multiplayer game is reminiscent of classic football games such as FIFA, except that here it is not virtual footballers but our robots that take to the pitch.
The technology behind the robots also sparked many fascinating discussions. We were able to provide insights into the various components, showcase components we’d developed ourselves, and explain how individual mechanical, electronic and software elements ultimately come together to form an autonomous football robot.

Fortunately, amidst all the conversations, games and technical explanations, we still had a bit of time to wander around the Maker Faire ourselves. Whilst doing so, we discovered numerous exciting projects: from robotics solutions and 3D printing developed by others, through to open-source projects and innovative approaches to sustainable technology.
And so, in the end, time flew by faster than we would have liked. From the first curious glances at our stand to the final laps on the playing field, the two days were filled with interesting conversations, children’s eyes lighting up and plenty of enthusiasm for robotics. For us, the Maker Faire was therefore not only an opportunity to showcase our work, but above all a weekend full of exchange, inspiration and a shared passion for technology.
